Music

The Binghamton City School District is proud to offer a comprehensive and dynamic music program designed to nurture creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong love for music. Spanning from kindergarten through 12th grade, our program provides students with a well-rounded and immersive musical experience.

Elementary
Students in the early grades develop foundational musical skills through general music classes that focus on singing, rhythm, movement, and musical expression. Hands-on activities and interactive lessons introduce students to a variety of musical styles and instruments. Students can start learning a musical instrument starting in third grade.

Middle School
Middle school students have access to a range of performance-based opportunities, including band, orchestra, and choir. Building on their elementary experiences, students hone their skills, explore music theory, and gain confidence performing as part of a group. Concerts provide performance opportunities throughout the year.

High School (9-12)
At Binghamton High School, students can take their musical talents to the next level with a variety of advanced ensembles and elective courses. Offerings include concert band, symphonic orchestra, jazz band, and mixed choirs. Students may also choose from music theory and composition courses. Performance highlights include concerts, community events, and participation in regional and state competitions and festivals.

The Binghamton City School District Music Program fosters creativity, self-discipline, and teamwork, preparing students to appreciate and contribute to the world of music for years to come.
