HAnnah Vy and Jackson Nguyen

36 local Class of 2024 students throughout the Southern Tier were honored for their excellence in math and science at SUNY Broome on May 14, and two Binghamton seniors were among them.

Hannah Vy and Jackson Nguyen were awarded the Frank G. Paul Medal for Excellence in Mathematics and Science at a ceremony in SUNY Broome’s Decker Health Science Center. The annual event recognizes local seniors who are among the area’s highest achievers and have exceptional talent in math and science. More than 700 of these medals have been handed out since the program began in 1999.

SUNY Broome President Dr. Tony D. Hawkins and Interim Dean of STEM Dr. Christine Martey-Ochola presented the awards alongside Rebecca Komorowski, the daughter of Francis and Lillian Paul, after whom the award was named. Francis (Frank) Paul was an IBM engineer for more than four decades and also served as a SUNY Broome trustee and president of the Foundation, which gives scholarships to students.

Congratulations Hannah and Jackson!
