The Binghamton City School District has been selected by Utica National Insurance Group to receive the School Safety Award at the Titanium Honors Level.
Utica National Insurance Group presents this award each year to districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in New York State which meet criteria for Titanium, Silver, and Gold award levels. Districts that earn the Titanium level also receive $500 for use in future school safety and health efforts.
In order to be awarded the Honors level, school district, including the Binghamton City School District had to supply documentation to prove it satisfied a lengthy checklist of safety and health questions from Utica National that pertained to proper training of staff, safety programs and procedures in place, facility quality, and mechanisms in place for regular inspections.
Each question on the checklist has a designated point value. The point totals are added up depending on if the district answered “yes” or “no” to each question.
In receiving the Titanium with Honors distinction, the Binghamton City School District was given the highest level possible due to the checklist that was filled out and the documentation provided.
