We are excited to share important details about the Binghamton City School District's proposed capital project which will facilitate renovations for Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. The capital project referendum vote will take place on Tuesday, December 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling locations can be found at the bottom of this article.

This vote comes after years of planning and collaboration between the district, local and state lawmakers, and the community. Full details of the proposed upgrades to Roosevelt can be found by clicking here. The multi-faceted project aims to make numerous improvements, including:

  • Hazardous materials remediation

  • Creation of classroom spaces conducive to 21st-century learning

  • Enhanced outdoor play spaces

  • Site and traffic improvements

  • Centralizing student support and counseling services

The project’s total cost is $56 million, which would be funded by a combination of capital reserves, project bonding, and state aid, and would result in NO impact on the district’s tax levy.

A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 3 at 6:00 pm in the Community Room at BCSD Central Office, at 164 Hawley Street. This will be a chance for you to learn about the project and share your thoughts.

Your voice matters, and we encourage you to vote on December 10!
