WMS 7th graders were visited today by Paul Fialla a retired 27- year veteran of the Suffolk County Police Department and an educational consultant who presented his character education and violence reduction program. His program, "Be the Best You that You Can Be," enables 7th graders to become better decision-makers and learn how to cope with difficult emotions.
During his presentation he talked about how students can learn that they are not alone with their feelings and how to ask for help.
“There is so much pressure on students today that they need to know that they are not alone and there are people and places that they can turn to for help,” Fialla said.
He also presented each student with a copy of his book "Life: 101" The book is a self-awareness book for students that explores choices and the consequences of choices.
This program was provided through a grant from the Binghamton City Schools Foundation.
