In the NewsStudents at Horace Mann Elementary School got a special gift to help with difficult times.

Horizons Federal Credit Union donated a bench that organizers say will serve as a place of reflection when they are having trouble in the classroom.

While on the bench, students are encouraged to write down what's bothering them, and throw their troubles away in a designated can.

School officials say focusing on the emotional well-being of students will help them later in life.

"One of our goals is to really create students that are self-motivated, self-disciplined," said Horace Mann Elementary School Principal Peter Stewart. "Not only with their school work but with their behavior, and as you know this is gonna be reflective later on in life, where they're gonna have to make decisions."

Officials also say additional support is available to students who need it. Watch the story on WBNG.
